the TUTORIAL: THE KNOT-SO BRAIDED BUN

Photobucket

We love love buns! They are easy and super fun when you can get it right. I personally love a messier bun but it always starts falling apart at the wrong time. With this bun you can rest assured it won't be going anywhere but you can still achieve a messier not-so-put together bun. Read on to see how we did it!

Photobucket
First, put your hair in a ponytail in the place where you want your bun to be. Secure it tightly. If your hair is really flat, you may want to tease your hair in the pony.

Photobucket
Braid your ponytail and secure with a clear elastic.

Photobucket
Pull your braid forward.

Photobucket
Pin down the top of the braid to your head right above the elastic holding your ponytail.

Photobucket
Roll the end of the braid inward.

Photobucket
Pin down the braid underneath the elastic holding your ponytail.

Photobucket
You will need to pin your hair down to your head around the ponytail. If it's a little too messy, use more bobby pins. If it's too clean, loosen the braid a little with you fingers.

Photobucket
This picture shows all the places we put bobby pins. Obviously then point is to hide the bobbys but if you use pins that are close enough to your hair color, you should be fine.

Photobucket
And then you are done! It should look something like this but your bun will differ depending on your hair texture and length. This look is cute just like this and would be fun with a headband or head wrap!

  7. This is really cute! Except...I tried it myself and it looked awful :( would it be because I have kinda short hair? my hair is shoulder length.

    1. That could have a lot to do with it. My hair in the picture is pushing it. So if yours is shorter, then it might not work. Also I have semi-thick hair (it's not super thick but not thin at all) which makes a difference too. I know that's not what you wanted to hear. Maybe try doing this but doing it at the nape of your neck & maybe in 2 buns?

  8. I'm completely confused on step 4 you pin the braid down to your head right before the elastic and then you roll it inward and you show it not pinned to your head. So is it pinned to your head i dont understand?

    1. Yes it is actually pinned to her head in step 4. I can see how it looks like her braid is standing straight up but the top part of her braid is actually connected to her head (with bobby pins.) When you roll the end of the braid inward, the back part of the braid pulls away from the front part of the braid- if that makes any sense. We didn't really get the best picture of that step but I hope this helps!

  9. GREAT Idea! I do my hair in a messy bun just about everyday, and I must say that I have never thought of a braid before! Love it! I'll add this to my blog when I do my new tutorial on hair flower clips...
    Thanks! :)

  11. this is so cute! i gave it a quick try and it did NOT turn out so well. I will have to experiment some more, and invest in some more bobby pins!!

  12. I try to do the braid but sometimes at the begging I feel like I'm all thumbs. I will have to practical it a lot.
